Behind the scenes of an internship at boostU!

My name is Plien and I am a Marketing and Communication student at UCLL in Leuven. I am currently in my final year and will be doing an internship at boostU for 10 weeks. My first weeks are already over and it was immediately very interesting and educational. I take you behind the scenes of the first days of my internship and tell you what I experienced that week.

The first day of the internship

On Monday, March 6, I walked into boostU for the first time and was immediately well received. First, I got a tour through the office and the entire building. Then I met my colleagues. I scheduled a one-on-one meeting with everyone so they could tell me about their function within boostU and what their job entails. During these conversations, I could also introduce myself. That day, the Culture Club of boostU also provided a delicious lunch where I could immediately notice the great atmosphere among the colleagues. So it was definitely a successful first day.

An introduction to Digital Performance Marketing

In the days that followed, I was allowed to follow someone every day who would give me an introduction to a part of online marketing. Charlotte was the first. She trained me in the approach to social media in function of Digital Performance Marketing. She shared her knowledge about SEA and showed me how to start an efficient campaign via Facebook and Instagram and how to optimize these campaigns. The importance of continuously monitoring and adjusting advertisements was also made clear to me here. Charlotte also invited me to follow two meetings with a client.

SEO optimization in practice

During my first internship week, not only SEA but also SEO management was covered. Under the guidance of Jonas, I dived into the world of Google Ads and Analytics, after which I could get to work on the case of Kleir. Using Google Analytics, I could investigate the performance of the website and the efficiency of the ongoing campaigns. Based on this, I made an analysis with relevant insights for the client. The use of the latest tools and technologies ensures that marketing campaigns can be well monitored. SEO is also stimulated by the content of a company"s website. With Pieter"s help, I could get to work with WordPress. I could contribute to the construction of various websites by adding web texts and editing meta descriptions.

Recruitment in a digital world

Finally, I discovered with Kelly how the digital recruitment department works. It is interesting to see how Facebook and LinkedIn are used to efficiently put qualified applicants in contact with companies that want to fill open vacancies. BoostU ensures the attraction of suitable leads so that the company can then get to work with applications. The support of digital recruitment makes the hiring process a lot easier for employers. I also get to be part of this. Kelly and I started a campaign together and will also follow it up together.

It was definitely a fascinating first week and I am already looking forward to the projects that will come my way.**
One thing is certain: this internship will give my marketing education a huge boost!**
